Returning home and remembering childhood while traveling back to help my father in his last days. It's a heartfelt reunion with a melancholy edge and a sense of urgency to make it back in time.
A Different Approach…
Dropping a few notches out of my head and into my heart has led me to write songs about life and self-discovery. This has always been my motivation to write, to find out who I really am and what I'm feeling underneath it all. And I'm learning some things… vulnerability is power in the world of writing but communicating a feeling can be tricky.
My new song Daddy's Headstone is based on a true story that recounts the reason I left the west coast and moved back to the South. It's a very different kind of song for me, but I think it's an important part of my musical journey of discovery. I hope you like it!
